Researcher in Machine Learning

After earning his Master's in engineering (specialization in Artificial Intelligence), Joris started a PhD in Machine Learning. While publishing several research papers and presenting at top international conferences, he got increasingly interested in applying Artificial Intelligence to create tangible value.

Data Scientist/Engineer

Joris started working as a Data Scientist, creating optimization algorithms for Big Data sets. He built up experience in Cloud Computing and Data Engineering, which enabled him to run his algorithms in operational environments. He learned that there are many reasons, a lot of them unrelated to technology, impacting the adoption of innovative ideas.

Innovation Expert

This prompted Joris to expand his horizon beyond the technical and start learning about innovation best practices such as Learn Startup and Design Thinking. Working together with multiple Digital Product Studios, he got better at launching successful innovations while using fewer resources to get there.

Data Strategist

Finally, Joris wanted more experience on the business side of things. To achieve that, he joined a Big Four consulting firm as a manager, focusing on Innovation and Data Strategy. This provided invaluable experience, helping him to be an effective innovator in large organizations.
